“A really friendly club, very welcoming and supportive. Rambles range from a pleasant stroll with time for coffee and cake to more challenging hikes in the hills and beyond, something for everyone who loves being outdoors. A great way to walk in lovely places, enjoy wonderful views, and with a sociable beer or cuppa at the end.”

“I have two doctors, my left leg and my right.” – G.M. Trevelyan

“The Club is a really interesting group and I have met many people whom I would never have met before. It is very inclusive, welcoming everybody.

Walking is something that most people can do, and you can go on doing it when you have probably had to give most other sports up. Through the club I have visited parts of the North East I have never been to before (and I have lived here fifty years) One of the views I remember most is looking down at Hexham Abbey from the hills above. This is a view I would never otherwise have had.

The club gives you exercise for all levels of fitness, but plenty of socialising as well.”

“Walking takes longer… than any other known form of locomotion except crawling. Thus it stretches time and prolongs life. Life is already too short to waste on speed.” – Edward Abbey

“It is quite possible to leave your home for a walk in the early morning air and return a different person – beguiled, enchanted.” – Mary Ellen Chase
